Camp Overlook
FAQs
When does camp registration open?
Camp registration for the 2026 season opens Saturday, February 14th, 2026, at 10am. Learn more about available camps, registration details, and common questions on the Camp Overlook website.
Is there anything I can do to prepare before registration?
Due to the great demand for camps, spots fill fast! We HIGHLY recommend creating a user account well in advance of February 14th. Learn more about registration and creating an account.
Can I be added to your email distribution list for summer camps?
Absolutely! If you have signed up for any previous Camp Overlook offerings, the email address you used for registration is already on our distribution list and will receive an email update about registration day, camp information, etc. If you are a first-time customer and would like to be added to this list, or if you would ever want to be removed from it, please contact us at campoverlook@nvrpa.org
Can my camper be added to a camp if spots are full?
We will only be able to add campers to a session if there are open spots. However, you can add your camper to the waitlist for any session on the Registration page. Adding your camper to the waitlist is free, and each year we register many campers from our waitlists when spots do become available.
Can my camper be enrolled in a camp if they are too young or too old?
This is decided by camp management on a case-by-case basis, as we will need to override the age requirements to register them. You must email us at campoverlook@nvrpa.org to request this. Please understand that there are no guarantees that exceptions will be made, and camp spots are purely on a first come first serve basis. Our recommendation is to register your camper for a session that they meet the age requirements for first, and then if needed reach out about the session you are interested in having us enroll them in. This is to ensure your camper doesn’t miss out on a camp experience entirely.
Where can I find the camp forms?
Camp Overlook no longer requires paper forms to be submitted for our campers! When registering your camper for a session, you will instead be asked those questions during the sign-up process in NOVA Parks' online registration system (such as emergency contact info, special needs, authorized pickups, etc.) Prepare for registration by completing the ACTIVE Net Questions for Registration form prior to registration.
What is the refund policy?
Refunds for Missed Camp Days
Refunds are not provided for missed camp days due to illness nor for changed work or vacation schedules.
Refunds for a Camp Session (Full Week)
- Refunds are not permitted within 59 days of the start of the camp session.
- Refund requests submitted at least 60 days prior to the start of the camp session will be considered only if the vacated spot can be filled by another camper. If the spot is filled, the registration fee will be refunded minus a $50 administrative fee.
How do I get ahold of Camp Overlook staff?
Staff can be reached by calling the Nature Center during operating hours at 703-528-5406 or by emailing us at campoverlook@nvrpa.org. We anticipate higher phone and email volume on February 14th due to registration. Please be aware of the possibility that it may take several calls, or longer wait times between emails, before you are able to reach or hear back from us. We will do our best to answer all questions in a timely fashion!
