Help Support the Raptors at Potomac Overlook!

We maintain two live, non-releasable birds of prey on site, a barred owl and a great horned owl. We will also be welcoming a red shouldered hawk and screech owl to our site shortly.

Staff regularly use these birds for interpretive programs. These programs are geared for school groups, summer camps, and park visitors.  Our goal is to help visitors understand the crucial role these amazing birds play in our environment.  Please consider supporting this program by purchasing the shirt pictured. It's for a great cause!

St. Stephens and St. Agnes School Field trip at PORP

Thank you for hosting the 6th graders from St. Stephens and St. Agnes School on Wednesday. We had a wonderful time. The presentation was fascinating. The students were hanging on his every word. The animals were amazing. We dearly appreciated being in the comfort of the indoor auditorium. As we walked the trail and processed all we had heard, I commented to a student that I has just learned so much new information. He agreed with a fervent nod, wide eyes and a breathless "Me too". The trail turned out to be a highlight. We look forward to hopefully returning next year and seeing your renovated nature center.

Love this place. Lots of insect life. And the master gardeners' garden is full of wildlife.
