As commander of the Continental Army during the Revolution, George Washington was essentially charged with the defense of the new American nation. But who would be in charge of defending this critically important man? Public historian Mary Cooper presents a lecture on the Commander in Chief Guard that was tasked with serving as Washington’s personal guard during the war. Help commemorate America’s 250th anniversary by learning the lesser-known stories of these men, and the challenges they faced at Washington’s side in the struggle for Independence.
