Battle of Upperville | Goose Creek Historic Park
Lyrids Meteor Shower Watch Party
Next Date
Join NOVA Parks' Roving Naturalist for a late night meteor shower watch party at Goose Creek Bridge Historic Park! Each April, the earth passes through a debris field produced by comet C/1861 G1 Thatcher, causing the Lyrids Meteor Shower. The highest volume of meteors are visible at midnight and not not much is visible earlier. Get a good night's rest the night before, bring warm clothes and blankets, and learn more about this incredible galactic phenomenon that is a whole lot closer to earth than you may think!
A telescope will be set up and shared to observe planets and stars. Have a camera and tripod? Bring it along and get some tips on how to capture the meteors!
