Swim Lessons
Ocean Dunes' swim lesson program is designed to build confidence, reinforce water safety, and develop strong foundational swimming skills through structured, small-group instruction. Lessons are offered in weekly Monday–Thursday sessions, allowing students to progress through consistent, consecutive-day practice.
- Session Format: 4-day weekly sessions (Monday–Thursday)
- Class Length: 30 minutes
- Class Time: 6:15 – 6:45 PM
- Class Size: Minimum 2 / Maximum 6 students
- Ages: 2–12 (varies by level)
- Season Dates: Sessions run weekly from June 22 through August 24, 2026
Participants register one week at a time, with the flexibility to continue across multiple weeks based on availability and progression.

PRE-SCHOOL & PARENT (Ages 2-5)
- Activity Details: The objective of our Preschool + Parent swim class is to help students feel comfortable in the water while the mom or dad is at their side. Students will learn elementary water skills that they can build on as they progress through the various swim levels. We introduce the WaterSmart Rules that are encouraged by Sophie the Safety Seal — our very own mascot for the Jeff Ellis Swimming Program.
- Requirements & Objectives: For swimmers comfortable putting their face in the water and floating with assistance. This level focuses on independent floating, kicking, and introduction to basic strokes.

PRE-SCHOOL (Ages 3-6)
- Activity Details: The purpose of this class is to help students feel comfortable in the water without the presence of the parent. Students continue to learn elementary water skills and safety tips that will stay with them throughout all swim lesson levels. Sophie the Safety Seal’s WaterSmart rules are enforced for increased water safety.
- Requirements & Objectives: For swimmers ages 3–6 who are comfortable entering the water and participating without a parent. Students build confidence, practice foundational water skills, and reinforce water safety habits

LEVEL 1 (Ages 5-12)
- Activity Details: The Level 1 class builds on elementary water skills previously learned and teaches students the skills needed to complete a 25-yard swim for each of the following: elementary backstroke, front crawl, and backstroke. All elementary water skills are reinforced so that they become second nature to the students. All water safety rules are discussed as well.
- Requirements & Objectives: For ages 5–12 who are comfortable in the water, able to float and kick independently, and ready to build consistency. Students work toward 25-yard swims in front crawl, backstroke, and elementary backstroke while reinforcing safety skills

LEVEL 2 (Ages 5-12)
- Activity Details: For swimmers ages 5–12 who can complete a 25-yard swim independently. Students build endurance to 50 yards, refine stroke technique, develop rhythmic breathing, and begin breaststroke and sidestroke.
- Requirements & Objectives: For swimmers ages 5–12 who can complete a 25-yard swim independently and demonstrate basic front crawl or backstroke proficency. Students build endurance to 50 yards, refine stroke technique, develop rhythmic breathing, and begin breaststroke and sidestroke.
