Join members of the W.S. Hancock Society’s Branch of Historical Interpretation on the Ball's Bluff Battlefield as they represent members of the artillery in a “non-firing” interactive interpretive program that will discuss the workings of the field artillery and vital role that it played during the American Civil War.

Cannon Demonstration & Period Civil War Music Concert

The Friends of Ball's Bluff will conduct a cannon demonstration to include the firing of blank ammunition the afternoon of the 4th of July at the Ball's Bluff Battlefield. Accompanying this event will be a Civil War-era band concert that will play popular music of that time.

Regiments in Depth event at Balch Library

Join the Friends of Ball's Bluff as we conduct a panel on the 1st California Infantry Regiment. This Union regiment fought at Ball's Bluff and throughout many of the major battles of the Civil War. Learn about how a unit recruited from the Philadelphia area became the California Regiment and their impact and sacrifice during the war.

Balls Bluff Reenactment

158th Anniversary of the Battle of Ball's Bluff

Join us for the 158th Anniversary of the Battle of Ball's Bluff. Events include cannon firing, Civil-War era band concert, a reenactor’s campout during the day. The highlight of the evening will be an illumination with 259 candles along the former cart path in remembrance of the men who died at Ball’s Bluff in October 1861, along with readings of prominent authors about the battle.
