Dominion Energy is preparing to begin work on the Wiehle Avenue Electric Transmission Relocation Project near the Washington and Old Dominion (W&OD) Trail between Isaac Newtown Square and Michael Faraday Court. As part of this project, Dominion Energy will remove existing structures, install new structures, and relocate transmission facilities. This work is necessary to accommodate a new pedestrian bridge on the W&OD Trail over Wiehle Avenue that is scheduled to be completed by summer 2023. Preconstruction activities are scheduled to begin in May 2021. These activities will consist of brush clearing within the Dominion Energy right of way and access points, matting installation, and soil borings. Construction activities are scheduled to begin in June 2021.
During preconstruction, trail users will be directed to either the paved or gravel sections of the W&OD Trail depending on the nature and location of our work. Beginning in May 2021, Dominion Energy will close the gravel trail for two to three weeks for improvements. Once this work is complete, Dominion Energy will reopen the gravel trail and begin work along the paved trail. For your safety, please remain clear of the construction area. During this time, please obey all signage and directions by flaggers. This project is scheduled to be completed in September 2021.
