If Walls Could Talk: The Grandest Congress at Carlyle House (Virtual)

Apr 14
12:00pm to 1:00pm

Six years after the founding of Alexandria, British troops arrived in the City to head west to battle against the French and Native Americans.  A meeting of colonial Governors was held at the grandest house in town to plan how the British could gain the upper hand in what would soon become known as the French and Indian War in the colonies and as the Seven Years’ War between France and Britain.

Join Carlyle House Site Manager, Andrea Cochrane Tracey, to discover why some argue that the seeds of independence may have been planted here in Alexandria. Registration required.
