NOVA Parks has proposed $7.5 Million in reinvestment into Great Waves Waterpark, including the addition of a popular Lazy River feature. However, this plan called the “Blue and Green Plan” will only become a reality if the City of Alexandria extends the lease to NOVA Parks. Currently there are only two more summer seasons left in the original 40 year lease.
NOVA Parks needs a new long-term lease to justify the major investment in this popular park. You can help by telling the City’s Park and Recreation Commission to support the Blue and Green Plan.
In addition to the Lazy River, NOVA Parks would add a dog park, improve the parking lot, build a passive park area on the west side of the lake, and do other improvements.
The City’s Park and Recreation Commission will make a recommendation on the future of the park on July 20th. Read the entire Blue & Green Plan here.
