Beaverdam Reservoir Renovation Project

The Beaverdam Creek Dam Modifications and Transfer Pump Station project is designed to improve safety and reliability by bringing the dam into compliance with Virginia dam safety regulations for high hazard dams.

The project includes phased excavation, diversion of water, construction of a new concrete spillway, embankment improvements, control tower modifications, a new transfer pump station & electrical building, improved drainage systems, instrumentation and controls improvements, and a permanent stream crossing.

Construction Information

  1. Water access on Beaverdam Reservoir will close temporarily beginning November 1, 2016.
  2. The reservoir will be lowered at the start of construction and refilled to an intermediate level upon achievement of project milestone 1, the select excavation at the existing spillway and erection of a temporary reservoir cofferdam.
  3. Construction traffic to the site will be limited to Reservoir Road, off of Evergreen Mills Road.
  4. Contractor work hours: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
