MEETING ANNOUNCEMENT

The NOVA Parks Board of Directors will hold its next monthly meeting on Thursday, November 15, 2018, at 7:30 p.m. at the Atrium, Meadowlark Botanical Gardens, 9750 Meadowlark Gardens Court, Vienna, VA 22182

The Audit Committee of the Board of NOVA Parks will meet on the same day, at 6 p.m. at the same location.

UPCOMING PUBLIC HEARING – COMMENTS WELCOME

The Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority will hold a public hearing on an amendment to Regulation 1.17, Remote Controlled Devices, Powered Models, or Toys, to align the regulation with current Virginia law. The full announcement of the public hearing may be read here.

The proposed amendment reads:

1.17 Remote Controlled Devices, Powered Models, or Toys.

No person shall operate hobby rockets, (removed: remote-control gliders or) powered remote-control or tethered (removed: planes), boats, cars or other like devices in a park except in areas designated by and with the express written permission of the Park Authority. This regulation does not apply to the use of any privately owned, unmanned aircraft system as defined in Virginia Code § 19.2-60.1.

NOVA Parks 2017 COMPREHENSIVE ANNUAL FINANCIAL REPORT

NOVA Parks presents its Comprehesive Annual Financial Report for Year Ending June 30, 2017. 

We are pleased to submit to you the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) of the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority (the Authority) for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2017, in accordance with the Code of Virginia. The financial statements included in this report conform to accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America (GAAP) as promulgated by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB). Responsibility for the accuracy of the data and the completeness and fairness of the presentation including all disclosures rests with management. To the best of our knowledge and belief, the enclosed data are accurate in all material respects and are reported in a manner that presents fairly the financial position of the governmental activities and businesstype activities, each major fund, and the aggregate remaining fund information of the Authority, as of June 30, 2017, and the respective changes in financial position and cash flows, where applicable. All necessary disclosures have been included to enable the reader to gain the maximum understanding of the Authority’s finances.
